50 great things about Nigeria

Nigeria has had its challenges and still having them because there will always be challenges; but here are some 50 great things about Nigeria to remind us that we have made good names out there and also some people who have dared to believe that they can make something out of our country. While we strive for more, we would relish what we have been able to make a make with these.
1)
Ngozi-okonji Iweala:  a globally renowned Nigerian economist best known for her two terms as Finance minister (her current position) and for her work at the World Bank, including several years as one of its Managing Directors.

Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi: Central bank Governor from 2009-till date; he has become one of the most influential men in Nigeria, while rescuing many banks in Nigeria at the brink of collapse.
3)
Chinua Achebe: Known to have written one of the greatest books of all times and for his contribution to Africa and his country through literature and being known all over the world. The man who will always be proud of his origins; even in his ever-continued fight injustice and corruption through his pen.
4) Chimamanda Adichie: Contemporary writer of Nigeria today, known for winning the Orange-prize award. You will always think of her name when you think of Nigeria writers today.

5) Wole Soyinka: The Nobel laureate, best known for all his beautiful plays and drama, and a political activist even today.

6)Globacomm : It might not be from Nigeria to the rest of the world but it’s by a Nigerian, globacom telecommunication one of the few companies owned by Nigerian that tell other Nigerians that it’s possible to do it even if you are a Nigerian.

7) Alhaji Aliko Dangote, MFR, and GCON: The richest man in African, The owner of Dangote group which haas interest in commodities with operations in homeland and several other countries in Africa. Having created Jobs for thousands of Nigerians and scholarships with research centers, he cannot be overlooked.


8) Tu-face Idibia- known in music world for the first African to win the first music awards, good song writer. And also the best Nigerian musician very few will disagree.

9) Agbani Derego: the First African to win the Miss World beauty pageant.

10) Super Eagles: There is not a match that they have to play that you don’t want to sit down and watch, not just because they are your country men but because they are good. This year and before this year they have continually done everything to always bring the cup to their country. A big kudooos to them!

21) 2face Idibia: he has received numerous awards across the globe and has consistently being on top charts with all his songs. We just love him, because you always want to nod your head to at least some of his lyrics.

Calabar carnival festival: Now tagged Africa’s biggest street party. Bringing people together like we have never seen, it’s always the talk of the town and its getting better every day. You always want to at least get a sneak peak of it.

23) Obudu cattle ranch: It is now also a destination to be as with international standards. Last year the tourist center saw a great influx of tourist from many parts of the world.

24)Folake Folarin-coker: revolutionizing the world of fashion and creating a major contour line- Tiffany Amber. In 2008 she showcased in the Mercedes Benz fashion week and was even called to show case for a second time.

25) Franklin Edward: One of the best and most popular gospel artist in the country, having won many awards.

26) AY- Ay show is arguably the best comedy show on Nigerian TV. He is innovative and we know he is bound to come up with so much more as long as comedy is concerned. 


27) Onitsha market- Known as the largest outdoor market in West Africa. Where you can get anything you want, or even created.

28) Lagos: The largest city in Africa, largest city in the world after shanghai and second fastest-growing in Africa. Meshed with good road network and complimented with its diversity, stories and hubs. 

29) Federal Government colleges- The unity colleges spread across Nigeria continue to give produce a brilliant fraction of students in the country. Irrespective of its hiccups, they still provide one of the best secondary school learning activities for many Nigerian children. 

30) Mr. Biggs: One of the first fast food chains opened in Nigerian. It has over close to locations across the country. Known for its spicy meat pie and grilled chicken.

31) Arise: Arise TV, magazine and fashion show- It is definitively, stylish and international. They bring African fashion to the tables of the world just as it should be. 

32) Benin City National museum: One of the most popular museums in Nigeria and have managed to stand out amongst the few. Known for its terracottas and historical Benin art crafts.

33) Kanu Nwankwo: Kanu has won a UEFA champions league medal, a UEFA cup medal, three FA cup Winners Medals and two African player of the year awards amongst others. He is also one of few players to have won the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League, UEFA Cup and an Olympic Gold Medal.[5] He made the third-most substitute appearances in Premier League history, appearing from the bench 118 times.

The NCF was recognized by the UN environmental programme which added it to its Global 500 roll of honour group of individuals and organizations making important contributions to the environment.

49) Farafina books: Known to have published the award-winning book; half of the yellow sun. It has distinguished itself in the publishing world, telling the African story.
