founders, he brews on a head full of Knowledge and inspiration...
What is Agri-prenuer and what
is its purpose? Who is it for?
“The purpose of
the group is to create better ways of maximizing profit in agriculture and
agro-allied industries through value addition, innovative approach to existing
problems in agriculture and increased yield.”
Every member is trained in 3 phases:
1. Self discovery, leadership and team work
2. Entrepreneurship and marketing
3. Agriculture.
The members of the group are given up to date information on
the agricultural industry
What is the tactics
involved in making sure the purpose is achieved. Who are the key sponsors and
partners of this innovation?
“In Nigeria of today,
sponsors are dedicated to show business and politics. This initiative was taken
up by several young men and women in response to the food security crisis.”
“We have been
successful. We now have 2 individuals with registered companies; we are hoping
to create 50 agro - industries by December.”
“We hope that on the long run, most Nigerian youth will be
Agripreneurs, that way we can respond to the food security crisis in the nation.”
We have the capacity to make 10 times what we make from
agriculture without increasing production! What we lack is the application of
global standards to our local agriculture.
What do you mean, by "making 10
times what we make; without increasing production?"
Making 10 times the profit without
increasing production is easy. For example, let's look at cocoa. Nigeria is the
fifth largest producer of cocoa and yet there is very little profit made by the
cocoa farmers, but the countries we export them to make a whole lot of money
from them; How?
If we have cocoa processing on a small scale here in Nigeria
and we sell our cocoa as a processed product's we will create more jobs and
generate more revenue as well as the percentage imbalance of trade we have been
experiencing as a developing country.

“Also, to prevent spoilage, farmers export their produce at
give away prices. The Agripreneur group is working hard to develop high tech
machines that can preserve agro- products without any loss in nutritive value”
How have you achieve much in a short time?
We realized that
there is a hunger to succeed among the younger generation (youths). All what
they need is a little push in the right direction.
