Love-ing or Lusting

A lot of times many people look for a reason to justify their actions, not justification to look blameless for the outside world; but justification for themselves in their hearts to feel comfortable with they are doing, especially when it comes to cheating on your spouse.
“I love him” One would say. Why do you love him is the next question. Then I would also ask “what is the difference between lust and love in your own situation?” Or is love enough? Or do we need lust and love in a relationship?  Or is lust embedded in love? And I would say “not exactly.” But love last longer, love goes all the way. Love will always be there, always even when you are tagged the evil of all time.

So, where does lust come in?

My Trip to Independence

Here in Africa, where it is trendy for us women to wait and hope for a man that will come along and whisk us away with his arms of love and strength and money, it seemed like we started forgetting that we might have any potential of our own. It blocks our mind completely.

Against anything that makes us want to fight for ourselves, we tend to get off our ass less often.

Yemisi, pack into the store quickly” I heard my mother’s voice. I hastened to bundle the umbrellas that where sampled at the door of the shop. A smile started on my face, I had been thinking about Kofi, again. I kept analyzing the way he spoke to me, the last time we had a conversation. I thought about his deep eyes and his face. “That face of his…” I thought. “Does he actually love me?” I wondered.

I bit my smiling lips gently as I stood there reminiscing, having no idea that my mother was staring right at me. “My pikin na the weather dey sweet you so?” She said shaking her head with a smile on her face. Continue reading

HOW TO CULTIVATE A GREAT READING HABIT

It’s sad to say that many people find it difficult to read almost anything. Even the tiniest Pamphlet, They would rather ask “what is this book about?” and say things like “I don’t have time to read” It has been observed that the wealthiest people in the world are the most readers.
All the knowledge are in the books” it might not be a hobby, but it is a necessary habit.

Ideas that are booming in other countries but might not work in Nigeria. (But who knows, there might be a change soon)

The world  is moving and trends are changing , with third world countries always exhibiting demonstration effect, its worth a thought when and how some new Ideas might/might not shape and change our activities here in Nigeria.

changing the bad habits of those closest to you

" I wish he could be less bossy",
"he is just too quick-tempered and I cant stand it"
" I wish she could stop talking too much ", "she is just too proud"
These are the words and thought of so many folks all around the world. The Question is "Can  you really change people?" Well what do you think? or what do I  think?
People can be changed if you want them to be changed, but that depends on why you want them to change. This is what will tell if they would change or they would just keep pissing you off..
Then we need to give a thought to this..
Why do you want your spouse, your sibling, friend or whoever to change?

The  first step is to make sure your reason is not selfish, e.g Do you want them to change so they can hang out with you more or pay the bills more when you go out with them?. Or is it because its just plainly not good for the person's health or a particular habit gets him/her into trouble? Whatever it is, Think about it and make sure it is not selfish.

Now the second step is; don't try to change them,  you would probably be thinking right now."did you hear me right?" Yes, you did!

Quote for the Day!

"when I was five Years Old
My mother always told me,
That happiness was the key to life.
When I went to school, then I was asked
What I wanted to be when I grew up,
I wrote down 'happy'
They told me I didn't understand the question
And i told them, they didn't understand Life. "
